Timi Schuessler, M.A., LPC
Timi is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition from Colorado State University.
Before becoming a therapist, Timi worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years. She loves incorporating nutrition and exercise principles into her work with clients, believing that God’s intention is that we be healthy from the inside out.
Timi has particular expertise in working with people who’ve experienced trauma. Trauma is a wide umbrella: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, addictions, sexual and relationship issues are just some of the disorders hiding beneath it. Our body and mind use amazingly complex and creative ways to cope with trauma, or distressing events. Some of the same defenses and processes that we originally developed to help deal with the sources of our pain end up blocking us from reaching a place of greater contentment and joy.
Timi’s Christian faith is an important part of who she is and what she brings to the clients she works with. It informs how she views mental, emotional and spiritual health. Having a safe place to share the deep, personal aspects of our lives that have been weighing us down can feel like unpacking a huge burden. Effective and lasting work in the counseling process is not easy, but it is possible and reaps rich rewards.
