Beyond the Self

The first time I saw Shayne Smith on Dry Bar Comedy, I was an instant fan. He’s a great story teller and has absolutely ridiculous experiences (as you can tell from his face). He conveys stupidity and courage at the same time, which I appreciate.
In this clip, Shayne talks about how he sought help for his mental illness. In therapy, he was directed to focus on himself and his own happiness. Check it out to discover the end result of making yourself the most important thing. (To see his whole video about how he changed from criminal to Catholic, watch this video. Note: It has some political content.)
At Envision, We Strive to Grow Beyond the Self.
Think of the people you admire most. They are probably people whose compassion compels them to act on behalf of others. They jump in when others shrink away. You talk to these people and it’s as if they don’t even think about themselves.
That’s the kind of people we want to grow into; it’s the kind of growth we encourage. There might be healing that needs to happen in our self. But the healing is not the end of the story; it’s just the beginning. Our healing enables us to give, to serve, and to love the people in our lives.
If you’re the kind of person that wants more than self-care, more than affirmations to feel better about yourself… consider an Envision therapist.
