Envision Counseling Clinic Therapist Interview Series
– Featuring Dr Veronica Johnson
Steve and Veronica founded Envision Counseling Clinic in 2015, and since then, they have poured their faith, values, mission, and expertise into every part of it. Today, Envision has grown to three offices, fourteen therapists, and a two-person admin team.
Over the past decade, they have experienced growth and blessing while also learning to stay flexible. Owning a business in today’s marketplace is not for the faint of heart. As a result, Envision has proudly helped thousands of clients not only envision a better life but also live it out.
Veronica’s Why
When asked why she became a therapist, Veronica points to her time as a Bible camp counselor and, furthermore, to watching her parents’ marriage grow through counseling. From there, she met Steve in college, and consequently, the rest is colorful history—they eloped at a Vegas drive-thru, in secret, no less. Afterward, life took them cross-country to Virginia in a little green Subaru for her doctorate; then, ultimately, they returned to Colorado in the same car—this time with three car seats. Today, they happily live in Castle Rock with their three fast-moving kids—two daughters and a son.
Veronica sees her role as a therapist as a positive, professional influencer. She loves watching marriages change trajectory and proudly claims her side gig as an amateur comedian (free of charge). She believes laughter is essential to mental health—and even hires with that in mind. At Envision, staff are expected to be committed Christians who enjoy laughing daily. Her other requirement? Be a little weird…just not too weird. As the newsletter writer, that’s what drew me in—a place to be fully myself: a Jesus lover, joke maker, and just the right amount of weird.
What Steve and Veronica have built is an exceptional atmosphere for clients and for the people who work here.
Now for what makes Veronica, Veronica: she’s driven by a never-ending to-do list (and a little anxiety). If not a therapist, she’d be a philosopher—or running a Chicago hot dog joint. Her mantra? “Less is more.” She loves Dry Bar Comedy, cheese curds, good food with variety, and life with the Johnson family’s first dog, Leo and her favorite movie line? Naturally, it’s food-related.
